BEELDDENKEN - A WORKBOOKIE

CONVERSE WALL TO WALL PROJECT

* picture by Laurie Mottie
I was privileged to do the first mural for Converse's Wall to Wall project. Around the globe they have local artists do murals around the new star chevron logo. It was an adventurous task to paint the whole thing ( 20m wide at 7m height ) in 2 days on a shaky scaffolding while a storm was going on. But thanks to the awesome people of Converse, Street Art Belgium and assistants El Topo and Laurie Mottie I succeeded. check out the vid above and interview + pictures.

Both influenced by pop culture and our daily life we present you a lot of different artworks. painted, drawn, printed, big, small. come check it out ! More info on the flyer !

THE LIBRARY PROJECT - POSTCARDS

Earlier this year I made 9 illustrations for The Library Project. I interviewed 9 young people and visualized what their ideal library would look like. Now Ladda VZW and the Waasland Libraries made these into a sweet postcard series ! e-mail me if you'd like a stack.

JANGOJIM - A DOCUMENTARY

Film school student, Kris Van den Bulck, asked me a few months ago to do his final school project about me and my passion for drawing. At first I was a bit hesitant. Aren't you supposed to be dead or very famous, crazy, very experienced,...before someone makes a documentary about you ? The idea felt weird, but I decided to help him create his final project as I thought it could be fun too. And I was happily surprised by the result. Thanks, Kris !

HOTEL JARRETELLE SKETCH

I was part of the live sketching crew at Hotel Jarretelle, Ghent's Burlesque festival.
It was awesome ! 1930's style, sexy pin-ups, feathers, exotica, fire & striptease. Difficult drawing when you can barely see anything & when the stuff happening on stage is more interesting than what's on your paper :).

WOODPEOPLE - HOT DOG POM POM

This is part of a new series: "WOODPEOPLE", for an upcoming solo show.

Little ode to the acrobatic and entertaining basketball Harlem Globetrotters team ( I think their theme song fits best here) and the cheerleader scene in American Beauty. Great film.

This is part of a new series: "WOODPEOPLE", for an upcoming solo show.

EARTHBARF - LIMITED RISOGRAFIA PRINT

I'm proud to be part of the Topo Copy Expo - Risografia project, organised by El Topo and Sam Scarpulla, that opened the DOK area in Gent. A fantastic party place in the docklands where all kinds of artists go wild in empty factory buildings and even a newly built arena.

They asked a bunch of talented people ( amongst them Ephameron, Jan Van Der Veken, Zosen, Thierry Jaspart, Mark Goss, .. ) to make a 2 color-print and this is my addition to the series. It's for sale and limited to a series of 100 signed prints.

WOODPEOPLE - ROCKABILLY BUBBLE BOY

This is part of a new series: "WOODPEOPLE", for an upcoming solo show.

Together with my previous rockabilly waitress this grease boy here is a little ode to the Rockabilly/Rock 'n Roll era and greasy haircuts of Elvis and Johnny Cash. I think this song by Ruckus Tyler fits him perfectly.

WOODPEOPLE - ROCKABILLY SHAKE GIRL

This is part of a new series: "WOODPEOPLE", for an upcoming solo show.

Little ode to the Rockabilly/Rock 'n Roll era-waitress. Very inspiring times with movies like American Graffiti or music like this one here from Charlie Feathers, nicely used in Kill Bill.

WOODPEOPLE - SPIELMAN

This is part of a new series: "WOODPEOPLE", for an upcoming solo show. This fella's name refers to the glockenspiel instrument below, but also to the main character in the fantastic Polanski movie, The Pianist. The brassband costume is on its turn a little ode to The Beatles.

WOODPEOPLE - OILMAN

There will be a little bit of blood..

Ode to a fantastic film, There Will Be Blood, and part of a new series: "WOODPEOPLE", for a new upcoming show of mine, based on a Playmobil toy and my Lumberjack illustration earlier.

PICTURESQUE WEBSITE

I designed the website of some good friends of mine
( 2 professional photographers and 1 director ) for their new production company, Picturesque. It had to be fun and colourful, so I provided a world starting from space to jungle, New York-like city, Alaska, Scotland and Hawaii-like place with the three of them returning on each page. crazy and playful.

ILLUSTRATION TIME - CITY LIFE

I was contacted again by the nice people of youth culture expert organisation Ladda, to make a quick series of illustrations to accompany their research study about why young families choose or choose not to live in a city. It might not all make much sense without the text material, but you can look at the drawingz.

ZUIDERPERSHUIS ILLUS - STERKE MARCEL

I was asked to do a series of illustrations for Zuiderpershuis, Antwerp. Based on the recent technical drawing I made for them, they chose to focus on one of the characters, a muscled dockworker "Strong Marcel", to add in texts or explanatory sheets.

ZUIDERPERSHUIS

I did this drawing for the nice people at the Zuiderpershuis in Antwerp. Featured on their website here. It's my pimped version of a technical drawing of the old hydraulic system.
The building used to be an energy plant, but is nowadays a cultural center.

The original image was a complicated black and white technical drawing and the quest was to do an update, to make it more fun for kids to learn about the workings of the machine.

Black Staedtler pen 0.3, A4 paper size, colours in photoshop

CODASYNC TIME LAPSE PAINT JOB

This is me painting the logo in a ghost town for the CD/LP cover of awesome rock band CODASYNC, which is being released this very weekend in Antwerp, Belgium. My girlfriend took a picture of this setting including the logo, which ended up as the cd cover. Our first collab. It was swell. The video was shot and edited by Ken Wastyn.

POSTCARDS GALORE

Series of postcards for the nice people at Use-It to promote my city, Antwerp, in Brussels. Young tourists get these cards for free at the Use-It Office together with some stamps and a train ticket.

I took some known buildings of Antwerp and changed them into a themepark attraction. Boy, will those tourists be disappointed when they find out there's no museum rollercoaster, haha.
